Download and installation
Nokia Maps Updater is a PC application with which you can install the latest Maps 3.0beta client to your device, and update the maps and voice guidance files. There is no sis file available, because the Maps 3.0beta client requires the installation of new, compatible maps and voice guidance files. To use Nokia Maps Updater, you need the latest Nokia PC Suite installed on your computer.
If you have previously installed Maps 3.0 on your phone and already have Nokia Maps Updater on your computer, please skip to step 3.
Instructions:
1. Ensure that you have the latest Nokia PC Suite installed on your computer
2. Download and install Nokia Maps Updater to your computer.
3. Connect your device to the computer (PC Suite Mode) and open Nokia Maps Updater.
4. If more than one device is connected to the computer, select your device from the list.
5. When Nokia Maps Updater has found updates, download them to your device.
6. Accept the installation in your device when prompted on the device display.
7. Please monitor the download to your device as it is likely that it will ask you to click “ok” a few times in order to close applications and continue. Failure to do this will result in a “time out” and incorrect installation to your device.
8. Ensure that installation is fully complete (notification on computer & phone) before opening Maps 3.0 - this can sometimes take a while, but please be patient as the Maps Updater needs to delete the old maps data first.
9. Once complete and open Maps 3.0
The 1st time you run Maps 3.0 it may take a bit of time as it need to create the necessary folders to store the map data. Nokia Maps Updater replaces the maps of entire regions or countries on your device. Therefore to transfer maps of additional regions or countries to your device, use Map Loader 3.0 (Note that earlier versions of Map Loader do not work with Maps 3.0).
Please ensure that you run Maps 3.0 at least once, before using the Map Loader (in PC Suite mode).
Special Note: “Not enough memory to start the application” when attempting to open Maps 3.0 on your device - We have noticed that in some cases, Maps Updater does not fully delete the old map data on the memory card. In order to resolve this, go to your memory card (e.g. via File Manager) and delete the “Cities” folder and “qf” file. After that, restart Maps 3.0.
